Coldstone and vegan!?!

I'll be driving around for work tonight and tomorrow, so I won't have time for posting. Before I left the office tonight, I did want to write a quick note.

A vegetarian, NOT VEGAN (---if you listen to the Vegan Freaks podcaast, you should hear that sound effect in your mind!), friend of mine in the office wanted to head over to Coldstone and invited me to go. I stated I would join her, but would not partake.

As a vegetarian, I loved Coldstone, so it was interesting to be there. I was glad that I wasn't even tempted to get dairy ice cream. Then we both noticed that they had non dairy sorbet in the ice cream case! How cool is that?

They also have a new smoothie menu with yogurt or soymilk options. Obviously yogurt is NOT VEGAN, but soy milk is. I'm tempted to write them an email letting them know that I love these options and that maybe they could offer a non-dairy ice cream option in the future too. Many of the potential toppings are vegan.

For now, I'm psyched to see sorbet on the menu there.

Prius Update - It is averaging 50+ mpg at the moment. I'm really enjoying having a bit more space in the car. Coopers have very stiff suspension (almost Jeep like) and it is nice to have smooth commute into work. I'll post a pic or two of the Prius over the weekend.

Last time I was at coldstone with my sister I thought the same thing. I got the non dairy sorbet.

I've had the only non-dairy (lemon) with fresh blackberries. Yum.

Last time I heard they say they can't "promise" that it's 100% dairy free since they use the same makers and mixers but they "wash" it. Whatever that means... still good though.

Isn't it always nice to find unexpected vegan options? Yay for sorbet!

Good for you about Coldstone and finding something to eat there! I won't buy anything from Coldstone because years ago, they were serving chopped up grasshoppers (i think it was... or crickets) as one of their "trendy toppings" to go along with OREOS, sprinkles, Reese's pieces, etc., and i have held it against them since then! I don't usually hold grudges, but... also, i don't think they're kosher, so that concerns me as well!

Love yer mileage for the Prius! I am so happy for you with your enjoyment of the new car. Very cool, Jody.

BTW, look for a post about your cookies and soap later when i am able to get onto a fast computer to post pix!

The oatmeal chocolate chip cookies are a goner! I had four and Peter had the rest... i think there were eight tucked into that cute Ball jar. Peter said to me, "Hey, are you sure these aren't Uncle Eddie's? Are you sure these are VEGAN? They are so good!" I assured him, "Jody's an awesome vegan baker, they're the real thing!"

Taking the soap out this afternoon to use. I can't wait!!

Thx for the comments everyone.

Leslie - The "can't promise" thing is everywhere. Almost any chocolate that doesn't have milk in it, says that it is made on machninery in a factory that does use milk. ---the same for nuts.

Kleo - Grasshoppers...yuck. Though some grasshoppers are kosher, I still wouldn't intend on eating them.

Karen - Never new that Ben and Jerrys even had a sorbet option. Cool, thanks for sharing that.

The 'lifestyle' smoothies have sodium casein (sp?) in them, a milk derivative.
